Find the courage to be authentic.
Not everyone will like you, but no one can if you don't give them the chance to get to know you.

My Approach

First of all, I am a proponent of being authentic. I try to stay authentic as a therapist as well.
I sometimes have a potty-mouth, use humor, and share some of my own experiences. I am very down-to-earth and it may sometimes feel like you're talking to a friend. I am very open-minded and not easily shocked or bothered.

Although it can sometimes feel like you are talking to a friend, therapy is more than that. I just like to make it as comfortable as possible. I slowly begin to get to know each client from the inside out: life experiences, family, upbringing, and so much more.

I mainly come from a framework of Existentialism, especially finding meaning in life, and living authentically to our values. I am a proponent of the mind-body connection and use mindfulness in therapy. Although Existential and Mindfulness Therapies are my framework, I use an integrative approach which is a mix of therapies. I use CBT, ACT, DBT, Psychodynamic, Jungian, etc. whenever a situation would benefit from a particular technique.
